Their lives matter too.

Welcome to Little Beaks Sanctuary.

Little Beaks is a registered non-profit bird rescue and sanctuary in Perth, Western Australia, providing lifelong care to small pet birds — including those with special needs — who need a safe and loving forever home.

We are a no-rehoming sanctuary. Every bird that joins Little Beaks stays for life, supported with specialised care, flock companionship, and natural enrichment.

More than just a rescue, Little Beaks is an advocacy organisation working to improve welfare standards and protect the rights of companion birds across Australia.

Our mission:

To protect, care for, and advocate for the wellbeing and rights of all pet birds.

Little Beaks is proudly registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), ensuring full transparency and accountability in everything we do.

Some of our residents’ stories

  • A close-up image of a weiro, with crusty, misaligned and overgrown beak, and puffy eyes, looking at the camera from a wooden transport box

    Shroomy

A big journey for a small, determined bird.

  • Sunny, a male budgie, sitting on a branch facing the camera. He has a horrible case of mites, covering around his eyes, cere and beak; his chest is largely bare of feathers, his wing feathers are ratty and unhealthy, and his nails are crooked.

    Sunny

One of the worst cases of (possible) neglect we’ve seen.

  • Two kakariki parrots sitting next to each other on a branch, the left one facing the camera side-on, the right one facing away, half cut off in the image. This is their first time in aviary and sunlight and they look a little nervous.

    Chilli & Pepper

From a dark room, these two cheeky kakarikis are a bundle of light.

  • Wally, a male plumhead parrot, sitting on a branch quite close to the camera, facing the camera with head side-on. He has wide eyes, a striking purple head, and some bare patches poking through on his chest. He's small for a plumhead.

    Wally

The shy, handsome male plumhead parrot who captured hearts around the world.

  • Bounty, a 10 or so week old budgie, mostly white with a little blue, and dark stripes on her head with clipped wings, sitting on a finger slightly side-on to the camera, head turned more towards the camera. This was her Gumtree image.

    Bounty

    Sold through a car window.

  • Buddy

Saved by a pet shop from a bad breeder.

  • Winterberry

Sold too young and bullied by a cage mate.

Little Beaks acknowledges Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises the continuing  connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past and present.
